Those houses don’t compare to these. The small 6 inch rooms in the Heath and other 12 room houses are frequently visited by Owls and even Crows that will reach in and grab the birds inside and eat them. I compared these 3 houses as they are standard 6×11 inch rooms (approx) and the heath you have needs custom modification that many folks are not aware of when they buy off the shelf. Though these small room houses can make a good house, I believe the modifications are important and thus puts those houses in a different league.
Perhaps the Heath convertible 12/6 can be placed in this review but in my opinion it just doesn’t match these other 3 in standard features and design.

I don’t see any mention of the type of aluminum house I have. Its a aluminum Heath house with 12 rooms. Can you tell me about that compared to these other ones you are talking about?

What a shame they didn’t tell you. I would find a new rehabilitator. You go through the trouble of bringing the birds to them and they can’t call you to tell you whats up?
What happened to your old rehab person?

My mom had a plastic house up for a few years. It got martins in it but after the 3rd year when we took it down to clean it the plastic was so brittle the doors broke off. A cheap fix but I built her a wooden house anyway. She likes using the winch. She checks the nests a lot more often now too.

Now you tell me! I bought a plastic house last year. This year it was falling apart and the pole bent.

I agree on the nest checks. The martins adust quickly and after a few checks accept whatever you do. One of my females would stay in the nest compartment during checks and once sat on my hand for a minute.
